HOW TO ADD UNC PATCH TO POLICIES IN SPBE CLOUD

Hi!!!

I need to know to add an UNC patch to policies in cloud console. I need to exclude one path like this:

\\server\path\another_path

I know that if i had the path mapped would be easy but i cant map de path.

And another question:

if i want to exclude one file but this file is in diferents locations (for example in PC1 is in "c:\program files\file.exe" ,but in PC2 is in "c:\file.exe" , how can i do in the policies of the cloud console?

Computer At Risk - You Are Not Protected : Subsciption Cancelled but Licence Available

I encountered this problem without warning and for no obvious reason.

Symantec.cloud Status tells me that the computer is at risk. Same goes for the web based console.

On Windows 10 x64, when I navigate to:
   Control Panel\System and Security\Security and Maintenance
I'm shown a message that starts with:
  "Your subscription to Norton Internet Security ran out. ..."
that includes a button marked "Renew". Clicking that button brings up a dialogue asking "Do you want to run this app?" and that is:
   C:\Program Files\Symantec.cloud\EndpointProtectionAgent\Engine\22.6.4.5\WSCStub.exe
Communication begins with the Norton server and then fails telling me "You Are Not Protected".

Clicking on the "Help me stay protected" option takes me to:

I've applied that advice and also that provided in the linking article associated with:
   3. Reinstall the product
   To install on Windows
   1.    Follow the steps in this article:
    How to install a client <https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH215636.html>

I created a distributable package as advised in TECH215636. Install the product again and the cycle repeats.

Running SymDiag reveals that:
1. One or more SEP.cloud definition sets are corrupted - Manually updating definitions according to the advice at https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH212427.html is ineffective whether it's done remotely, locally or using the Intelligent Updater or Rapid Release options.

2. SEP.cloud drivers and services need attention - Service "eeCtrl" is not configured and operating propelry ... service not installed. Service "EraserUtilRebootDrv" is not configured and operating propelry ... service not installed.

Searching the web or the Symantec forum for advice regarding eeCtrl or EraserUtilRebootDrv yields nothing useful that I can see.

Checking:
   https://hostedendpoint.spn.com/Subscriptions.aspx
reveals:
   Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition

    Total Available Licenses: 3 licenses
    Usage: 1 license

Why have I lost access to licenced functionality all of a sudden and for not otherwise explained reason?

I'm having issues updating the agent on 50 of our client machines. We've notice that a lot of the machines have this current status:

Operating System:
Windows 7 (x86)
Platform Version:
3.00.00.2701
Status:

Offline

Is there any way of fixing this ?

SEP.cloud agent with Local Update Host

I need a solution

Can the SEP.cloud agent be used on computers that are NOT connected to the Internet, when there is a Local Update Host on the local network? 

The reason I am asking is that we are upgrading a number of computers to Windows 10 on a network where the client computers cannot access the Internet. So far we were using the on-premises SEP SBE client, but this does not support Windows 10. The server where SEP Manager is currently installed and could be also used as LUH has Internet connectivity.

Unable to install SEP 12.1.6 MP4 on windows 10 64bit Pro Computer

I need a solution

Keep getting an error message that SEP 12.1.6 MP4 is not compatible with Windows 10. All the rest of the computers in the office have Windows 10 with SEP 12.1.6 MP4 installed. This computer was upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and wasn't workng very well. So we did a reset which got rid of all the apps, but kept the files. Any help would be appreciated.​ Thanks.

windows small business server 2011 essentials

I need a solution

Hello, I have a small network that has a subscription to SEP SBE Cloud, and a domain controller (running windows small business server 2011 essentials). Until recently, I had no issues running the cloud version of SEP on the windows small business server 2011 essentials domain controller. Unfortunately, the latest version failes to upgrade. I have run the most recent versions of Cleanwipe and CEDAR but the install continues to fail. I recently read the OS is not supported. Are there any other options for this server? And if I choose to download the "On Premise" manager which does support windows small business server 2011 essentials can I continue using the cloud versions for the remaining clients?

no firewall

I need a solution

we had been using ep for the last couple of years that we managed on-site.  I talked my boss into going to the cloud this year at renewal.  It was then that I realized that the cloud doesn't have a firewall for the server like the on-site package had. I realized it when windows started telling me I didn't have a firewall Wanted to know what others were using or just using windows firewall and what problems you've encountered.  I'm having a lot of problems setting all the rules for traffic

Firewall Blocking Ping & Group Policy not applying

I need a solution

I seem to have an issue with at least one XP machine ( I know i need to get us off of them). When the Symantec Endpoint Firewall is enabled I am unable to ping internal or external addresses ( but i can ping the loopback) or have the computer see changes to Group Policy. When i disable the Firewall for the minimum 15 min on the client side the computer pings perfectly fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it still has the issue. Any help is appreciated.

Email error 250 - popup

Hi,

we're currently experiencing an issue with sending emails from several different computers in our company.

When we send an email from Microsoft Outlook 2016 a few seconds later we see on our screen a Symantec popup:

"Email error

250-"

Below this message there is a recap of "from" address, "to" address and "subject" and the "OK" button.

Nothing else.

I need your kind help to solve this issue.

Maybe deactivating the spam check on OUTBOUND emails could solve this, but it seems from my symantec cloud control panel that I can just switch on or off the email protection (which is NOT an option because the client endpoint protection would become useless in that case).

Error on File reputation

I need a solution

At my work we have a small network with Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition vers. 12

There is one computer that gives an error ;  " 1 computer reported file reputation lookup issues. " 

I did some reading with the help from google, ending in a symantec forum but did not find the solution for this error.

The network connection is stabel and does not give us any problems.

At this time the error is repported frequently.

Is it possible that  software like Virtualbox (Oracle VM) and a iso file with Lunix Ubuntu Xenial can create an error like this?

It is a standaard computer with normal software installed, just like lthe other computers in our network, witch don`t have these errors.

Can anybody help me with this one?

Endpoint Cloud Discovered programs enhancement

Apparently this is not the first time for this enhancement request. I have a program that configures the users VoIP desk phone. The program is blocked by Symantec. If I turn the Symnatec firewall off everything works fine. Working with the program author it is not possible to open or allow ports to make this program work(I've spent enough time trying to do that). I just need this program to be added to the discovered programs list in the cloud portal. I have had this application installed for months on several computers and it still has not been discovered. There needs to be a manual process for adding applications to this discovered programs list. This has been holding me up in deploying this application to my users becasue turning off the firewall is not a secure solution. Please add this feature. Allowing programs through the local client firewalls is kind of a big deal and Symantec client does not allow it unless the application has been discovered. However, who knows what the metrics are to make a program discovered. Thank You

Outlook Express doesn't work with SEP SBE

I need a solution

Hi all,
i'm trying the Symantec Endopoint Protection Small Business Edition for a my customer and i'm not able to resolve the problem.

Outlook Express on WinXP doesn't send or receive emails.
 

i disabled the email protection but it doesn't work...

i tried to create a rule in the firewall section to trust the OE application but it doesn't work

please help

i can't buy this product if i can't solve this problem.

Firewall blocks Group Policy Modeling

I need a solution

I am using SEP SBE cloud version with a policy basically derived from the default plicy provided.  When I try to run a Group Policy Results Wizard from a domain controller (Windows server 2012) on a windows client (win 7 or 10), the SEP firewall blocks the Group Policy wizard from running.  On the client machine, the firewall traaffic log shows 'rule default block EPMAP' rejected TCP(6) traffic with ...  I tried to create a custom rule to allow TCP traffic to this specific client on port 135, but the default rule is overriding the custom rule I created.  HOW CAN I GET THE SEP FIREWALL TO ALLOW THIS GROUP POLICY TRAFFIC?  thanks for the help.

I'm trying to load Symantec 12.1.6 on a Windows 7 Virtual Machine. When I run the .exe, it shows up as running in the processes. It then sits there for about 20 minutes doing nothing and then disapears. Any suggestions?

Hi All,

I've been tasked to look for a Cloud based Endpoint Protection.

Doing so, I saw SEP SBE Cloud but I was wondering if SEP SBE Cloud could provide needed solutons for this matter.

1. USB whitelisting and/or blacklisting

2. Application whitelisting and/or blacklisting

I've been looking for configuration or information for SEP SBE but the only article I found heplful was this one:

And as far as my search has gone, I guess on premise SEPM is more complete when it comes to policy configuration though I might be missing on something with SEP SBE Cloud. 

By the way, would SEP SBE cater 5,000++ endpoints?

Can not upgrade SEP 12.1.6 MP6 client

I need a solution

I downloaded the SEP 12.1.6 MP6 client​, and my current versio is 12.1.6 MP1a, and one of my machine is upgraded successfully, however, another machine can not updrade. After installed "Sep64_6318To7061_clientDAXMSI.exe​", the version still 6318. There is no any error or any thing else display. My both machine is windows 10.

Any suggestion? thanks

Forgot password button not working

I need a solution

My SMB End Point got uninstalled (license not yet expired).

I tried to log on my email used when I purchased the license, but could not get through.

I tried to reset my login password, but never received the reset password email from Symantec.

Questions:

  1. Can I re-install the application only by clicking the setup program (without login)?
  2. How do I reset my login password if I don't receive email from Symantec?

Request:

To Symantec, please do something to correct the functionality of your "Forgot Password" button.
